Why financial privacy matters

Your spending habits are among your most revealing data: your income, debts, shopping patterns, and personal purchases. AI is genuinely useful for turning that raw data into budgets and insights, but the tool you use determines who else sees it.

When you upload credit card statements to mainstream AI services, that financial information can be retained on their servers indefinitely. Venice takes a different approach, letting you run the same kind of analysis without building a permanent record of your money.

The risk with corporate AI, and how Venice differs

Statements sent to big corporate LLMs are logged and preserved. That means your debts, purchases, and financial patterns sit in a centralized database that can be subject to government access or exposed in a data breach.

Venice is built so that doesn't happen. Your conversations stay stored in your browser, never on Venice servers, and messages are end-to-end encrypted both ways. You can upload bank statements, credit card data, or investment details and get personalized budget advice without that data being kept or surveilled.

Prepare your statements safely

Even though Venice is private, redacting sensitive details before upload is good practice. Open your statement in a PDF editor such as Adobe Acrobat, highlight any sensitive information, right-click, and choose redact text. That data is then permanently hidden in the file.

Before moving on, review the sanitized document to confirm it still contains everything you want analyzed: interest, balance, fees, purchases, credits, and the individual charges. Those line items, things like subscriptions, gas, and restaurant spending, are exactly what the model will categorize.

Set up Venice Large and upload

Open a new chat in Venice. Venice can auto-select a model based on your prompt, but for financial analysis choose Venice Large: it is the most capable model and has a larger context window, which matters when you attach multiple statements at once. Note that Venice Large requires Venice Pro, so upgrade your account for the best results.

Reading the analysis and pushing further

Venice Large returns spending grouped into categories such as food and drink, subscriptions, retail and shopping, business expenses, and miscellaneous, along with the share of interest each category accounts for. In the example, it also surfaced a red flag on its own: a charge from an electronics store in Moscow that looked like card compromise, with a recommendation to call the number on the statement.

From there you can keep asking targeted questions to get more out of the same data:

The model flagged recurring subscriptions, identified a pattern in late-night impulse buys, and produced a 30-day budget with concrete cuts. Throughout, the conversation stayed only in the browser, so the brutal honesty of the assessment never came at the cost of your privacy.
