What Venice stands for
The principles
Most AI tools sit between you and the model, logging what you ask and deciding what you're allowed to make. Venice is built the other way around: your prompts and creations are yours, the defaults protect you, and access doesn't depend on anyone's permission.
Private by default
Conversations and creations aren't mined, sold, or used to train against you. They're all stored locally in your browser, not on a company server. Anonymous models still run through providers that store your information.
Self-Sovereign
With $DIEM, Venice offers you non-KYC, permissionless access to unrestricted intelligence.
Unrestricted
Fewer arbitrary walls, paired with clear, non-negotiable rules around consent.
3 Main Privacy Modes
In plain language
Venice minimizes what's stored, processes requests in protected environments, and encrypts what travels between you and the model.
- Anonymized: your request is routed through Venice to the provider with your identity stripped, so the model never learns who you are.
- Private / zero data retention: the default for most models. Your prompts aren't logged, kept, or used to train on you.
- E2EE / TEE: an optional end-to-end encrypted mode on certain open-weight models, run in a trusted execution environment even the operator can't peer into.
The deep technical version lives in the docs.
Frontier, closed models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI) are reached through Venice's proxy. Your prompt arrives with no account and no identity attached, so the provider never learns who you are.

The three things worth learning first
Three things unlock almost everything else on Venice: credits, choosing a model, and prompting.
Credits
What costs what, and why video burns more than images, which burn more than text. Draft cheap, finalize the keeper at full quality.
Choose your model vs Agentic
Agentic chat will pick and run models for you. Choosing the model yourself gives more control: there's no single "best," just a best-for-this-job, sorted by what you're trying to make.
Prompting
Good results come from describing what you want concretely. A few patterns carry most of the weight across every model.
Quick answers
The questions everyone asks first
How do I pay for Venice?
Four ways: a credit card through Stripe, crypto including Bitcoin, staking 100 VVV for a Pro account, or staked DIEM for daily inference credit on the API. The crypto and staking paths let you pay without tying an identity to your account.
Is it really private if it runs in the cloud?
Yes, in layers. For the strongest guarantee, certain open-weight models run end-to-end encrypted in a trusted execution environment (TEE), so even the operator can't see inside. For most people, any model tagged Private is enough: your prompts aren't logged, kept, or used to train on you. Add a VPN to mask your network origin as well.
What can't I make?
The hard line is consent: explicit, informed consent for any real person, and never anything involving minors. Beyond that, Venice is deliberately permissive.
Why did my credits drop so fast?
You probably generated video or high-res images, which cost more than text. The credits guide shows how to draft cheaply and only spend big on the final.
