In short. To take part in the community you sign in with Discord or an email magic link. We store a pseudonymous handle, your sign-in email, and whatever you choose to post. We don't import your Discord profile, we don't run advertising trackers, and we never sell your data. This site is an isolated satellite — it has no access to your Venice.ai account or data.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to Learn Venice at https://learn.venice.ai — the educational guides, video wiki, and community forum operated by the Venice User Education team. It does not cover the main Venice application at venice.ai, which has its own separate privacy policy. Reading guides does not require an account; only posting in the community does.
Isolation from Venice
Learn Veniceruns on its own database and hosting, in an account separate from Venice's production systems. It has no network path to, and no shared credentials with, your Venice.ai account, keys, or usage. Nothing you do on Learn Venice is linked to your Venice identity unless you deliberately post it yourself.
What we collect
Account information
- Sign-in identifier. If you sign in by email magic link, we store your email address to authenticate you. If you sign in with Discord, our authentication provider verifies your identity with Discord and returns a token — we do not import or store your Discord username, avatar, servers, or friend list.
- Pseudonymous handle. A random handle is generated for you at signup. You may optionally set a display name and avatar URL.
- Karma and moderator status, which are derived from your activity.
Content you submit
- Posts (questions, showcases, guide requests), comments, and votes.
- Reports you file about other content (visible only to moderators).
Technical data
- Essential cookies to keep you signed in (a session set by our authentication provider). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Anti-abuse checks. Sign-up and posting are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may process your IP address and browser signals to tell humans from bots.
- Operational logs. Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs (e.g. IP address, timestamps, error traces) to run and secure the service.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
- We don't run advertising networks or behavioral ad trackers.
- We don't require your real name.
- We don't import data from your Discord or Venice.ai profile.
Why we use it (legal bases)
We process account data to perform the service you asked for(running your account and the forum). We process anti-abuse and log data under our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and available. Where consent is the appropriate basis, we ask for it and you can withdraw it.
Service providers
We share the minimum necessary data with a small set of processors that run the service:
- Supabase — managed database and authentication (privacy policy).
- Vercel — application hosting (privacy policy).
- Cloudflare — Turnstile anti-bot protection (privacy policy).
- Discord — only if you choose Discord sign-in, and only for the OAuth handshake (privacy policy).
Data retention
We keep your account and content until you delete them or ask us to. Deleting your account removes your profile and cascades to the posts, comments, votes, and reports tied to it. Operational logs held by our providers expire on their own schedules.
Your rights and choices
- Access, correct, or deleteyour data — email us and we'll action it. You can edit your display name and avatar yourself at any time.
- Delete your account and its associated content on request.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have additional rights to portability, objection, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Public content
Posts and comments are public by design — anyone can read them, and search engines may index them. Don't post anything you wouldn't want to be public. Your handle is shown alongside your contributions.
Children
Learn Veniceisn't directed to children under 13, and you must meet the minimum age in the Terms of Serviceto create an account. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We'll change the effective date above, and for material changes we'll give notice in the community.
